The Oligarchy and TIME’s HeSheThey of the Year Award

Elon Musk just tweeted an image of a book cover, Friedrich Nietzsche’s Beyond Naughty and Nice. So now we know that Musk is an intellectual and he has read Nietzsche’s Beyond Good and Evil: Prelude to a Philosophy of the Future. He thinks some really deep thoughts but he is busy running Tesla and SpaceX and planning the colonization of Mars so he hasn’t time to explain his understanding of Nietzsche’s contempt for ultimate truth and free will or add in his own commentary on the silliness of universal morality. It’s “will to power” that charges his battery, baby.

TIME’s Person of the Year: Elon Musk

Time's editor-in-chief Edward Felsenthal explained the decision to pick the richest man on Earth, saying he was emblematic of 2021 and the year's most influential person.

"Person of the Year is a marker of influence, and few individuals have had more influence than Musk on life on Earth, and potentially life off Earth too. In 2021, Musk emerged not just as the world's richest person but also as perhaps the richest example of a massive shift in our society."

He described the shift in how rich entrepreneurs and their priorities are shaping the lives of many, amid a deepening economic inequality crisis that was exacerbated during the pandemic. Yet he said Musk stands out from that group.

"For creating solutions to an existential crisis, for embodying the possibilities and the perils of the age of tech titans, for driving society's most daring and disruptive transformations, Elon Musk is TIME's 2021 Person of the Year."

One can learn so much from a tweet; I wish I could just follow tweets all day long. Twitter reacts to Musk being named TIME’s Person of the Year, with some calling him a fraud, but other ecstatic tweeters cooing how well-deserved this award is. Here’s a tweet:

"Time Magazine got this one right. We live in depraved, acquisitive, intellectually bankrupt times and nobody embodies our wretched zeitgeist quite like this bloated sociopath. Literally the hero we deserve," E.W. Niedermeyer tweeted.

The Independent’s correspondent Borzou Daragahi said that he thinks “Elon Musk is not just the person of the year but the person of the era… he’s symptomatic of our era of polarization and inequality and adoration and the extremely unhealthy power of the super, super rich.”

In 2010, Mark Zuckerberg received this honor. It was 1999 when TIME ceased with its Man of the Year (or Woman of the Year awards) and began calling it Person of the Year. This means that Jeff Bezos was technically the Last Man of the Year when he was honored in 1999 and George W. Bush was the first Person of the Year in 2000. Did TIME have prescient knowledge that one day a recipient of their reward would tweet “pronouns suck” and they wanted the joke to be on them? Musk infamously sent that tweet in July 2020, mystifying since when his baby was born in May 2020, he named him X Ӕ A-12 and said he would be following a gender-neutral parenting style in case his child does not identify with his (their) birth gender.

This TIME award has also been given to Adolph Hitler (1938) and Joseph Stalin (1939 and 1942).

Does the award matter? Does it mean anything? We do know that Bill Gates was a front runner for the award this year, but he didn’t win. Was he upset? We don’t know. We do know that in late October, Bill Gates celebrated his birthday with Jeff Bezos at an intimate party. The party lasted four hours. Guests were reportedly served champagne, sushi, pizza, and local seafood.

Bill Gates, formerly the richest man in the world, invited fellow super-rich billionaire Jeff Bezos to a private birthday party in a Turkish cove near Bodrum, according to local media. The Microsoft founder, who has an estimated net worth of $136bn, celebrated his 66th birthday with Bezos and 50 other guests. Guests were helicoptered from Bill Gates's megayacht, Lana, to the secluded and picturesque cove. He is currently renting the yacht for 1.8 million euros per week, according to reports. Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk were invited but did not attend.

George Soros has never been Time Man or Person of the Year. I wonder why not, since his Open Society Foundations financially support civil society groups around the world, with a stated aim of advancing justice, education, public health and independent media.

This last week, Fox News removed a cartoon depicting George Soros as a puppet master from social media after the Anti-Defamation League called out the conservative news giant for peddling antisemitic tropes.

As we have told @FoxNews numerous times, casting a Jewish individual as a puppet master who manipulates national events for malign purposes conjures up longstanding antisemitic tropes about Jewish power and contributes to the normalization of antisemitism,” the ADL wrote Wednesday in a tweet. “This needs to be removed.

The cartoon, by A.F. Branco, depicts Soros, a Holocaust survivor and a billionaire philanthropist who gives mainly to liberal causes, as manipulating a Democratic district attorney holding up a sign saying “defund the police” and a Democratic attorney general holding up a sign saying “no bail.”

What’s George Soros really all about? Is he simply misunderstood? Can we learn anything from what has been tweeted about him?

Sorry to have tweeted incorrect info about you! Please forgive me! By the way, George Soros is a nazi who turned in his fellow Jews 2 be murdered in German concentration camps & stole their wealth-were you aware of that? But, we all make mistakes, right Chelsea?

According to fact checkers at the Washington Examiner, “Many who peddle the “George Soros was a Nazi” conspiracy rely on a 60 Minutes interview with Soros from 1998. During the interview, Soros was asked if he “helped in the confiscation of the property from the Jews” to which he responded “yes, that’s right.” Later on in that same line of questioning, Soros says that he “was only a spectator” and “had no role in taking away that property.”

No matter what the ADL tweets or how quickly Fox News capitulates to their demands, there is no question that Soros and his Open Society Foundations have had a deleterious effect on what remains of the American democratic process.

From the New York Post this week (just one of dozens of papers who have covered Soros web of “dark money” used to defund the police):

For the last several years, billionaire philanthropist George Soros has been quietly financing a revolution in criminal justice reform, doling out tens of millions of dollars to progressive candidates in district attorney races throughout the country amid movements to abolish bail and defund the police. Working with an activist attorney, Soros, 91, mainly funnels cash through a complicated web of federal and state political action committees as well as non-profits from coast to coast, public records show.

Between 2015 and 2019, Soros and his affiliated political action committees spent more than $17 million on local DA races in support of left-wing candidates, according to the Capital Research Center, a non-profit that tracks lobbying and charitable giving. That number is expected to top $20 million in the last two years.

“George Soros has quietly orchestrated the dark money political equivalent of ‘shock and awe,’ on local attorney races through the country, shattering records, flipping races and essentially making a mockery of our entire campaign finance system,” said Tom Anderson, director of the Government Integrity Project at the National Legal and Policy Center in Virginia.

“Everywhere Soros-backed prosecutors go, crime follows,” said Arkansas Republican Senator Tom Cotton in a statement to The Post. “These legal arsonists have abandoned their duty to public safety by pursuing leniency even for the most heinous crime, and they often flat-out refuse to charge criminals for shoplifting, vagrancy and entire categories of misdemeanors.”

Chesa Boudin, whose parents were members of the Weather Underground domestic terrorist group, echoed similar sentiments during his campaign in San Francisco. A former public defender and translator for former Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez, Boudin has promised to end mass incarceration and cash bail. Former San Francisco homicide prosecutors Brooke Jenkins and Don Du Bain recently quit their jobs, two of 59 attorneys to resign since Boudin took office in January 2020.

Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner has seen crime in his city skyrocket with more homicides than New York and Los Angeles, the country’s two largest cities.

Earlier this week, San Francisco mayor London Breed announced an emergency crackdown on crime after a spike in gun violence and lethal fentanyl overdoses in the city’s Tenderloin neighborhood. “It’s time the reign of criminals who are destroying our city, it is time for it to come to an end,” she said. “And it comes to an end when we take the steps to be more aggressive with law enforcement. More aggressive with the changes in our policies and less tolerant of all the b–ls–t that has destroyed our city.”

The problem begins with lax law enforcement at the DA level, according to critics.

“The only good Soros prosecutor is a defeated Soros prosecutor,” Cotton told The Post.

I don’t know who Soros employs as his publicist, but he would surely garner much-needed goodwill if he were to snag the coveted TIME Person of the Year Award.

In the new year, we’ll continue to bring you talks and themed series of talks from the extensive archive of Alan Watt talks. We think this blurb from Dec. 18, 2016 is an excellent end to our series on philanthropy and how philanthropists and non-governmental organizations are instrumental in implementing every area of this ancient agenda.

Quantum of Soros, The Sorrowful Fooled"

Oligarchy is a form of power structure in which power rests with a small number of people. The qualities that distinguish this group may include nobility, fame, wealth, education, or corporate affiliation. We certainly see this form of “governance” globally. Take any country and examine its policies and the same agenda is in operation. Climate change, sustainability, universal basic income, central bank digital currency, vaccine passports are the talking points for every “nation.”

Some form of technocracy and efficiency is the cry of our oligarchs. Elon Musk’s grandfather, Joshua N. Haldeman, was a leading proponent of technocracy, the conviction that technology and engineering can solve all political, social and economic problems. Technocrats don’t trust democracy or politicians, capitalism or currency.

There’s a consistent quality to all these philanthropists who only desire to make the world better for everyone. Read Bill Gates blog from December 7 of this year, Reasons for optimism after a difficult year. His generosity extends to all areas and, really, if we would just give him a free hand, he clearly knows how to battle climate change, and all known and unknown variants of Covid. After reading this, I was utterly blown away by his genius and his deep concern for his fellow humans. What a man! I will be trumpeting his merits early and loudly in the new year. Others will have to champion the much-maligned Soros. My tweets will be for Bill Gates to be TIME’s HeSheThey of the Year for 2022.
